Franck is a police officer but also a chicken breeder. “The chicken that raises chickens? Someone’s already done that to me!”

Since September, Franck Gaury has led an unconventional double life. As a police officer in the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) of Bordeaux, he faces the challenges of the city’s security. However, outside of his service hours, he devotes himself to an unusual passion: raising chickens and selling eggs directly from his home in Saint-Christoly-de-Blaye, as France Bleu explains.

On September 7, Franck Gaury undertook a personal project that is close to his heart. Next to his house, he installed a chicken coop and started raising 160 chickens. Every day, before going to work, from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m., he harvests around a hundred eggs to sell them directly to his local customers. This activity not only serves as his passion, but also as a plan for his retirement.

It is not a simple henhouse, but a mobile henhouse, designed to offer the hens the best possible conditions throughout the year. Franck moves the enclosure according to the seasons and according to the chickens’ diet, thus guaranteeing the quality of the eggs. He rotates regularly on the eight hectares of land he has.

According to Franck, the quality is there, and this is precisely what his customers are looking for: free-range eggs of the highest quality. Every day, around a hundred eggs are harvested and sell quickly, even attracting customers from Bordeaux. Sales are made directly from home, offering unique proximity to consumers.

Franck, who has always loved collecting eggs since his childhood, finds in this activity a real escape from his work as a police officer. He sees it as a breath of fresh air, a way to balance the pressures of professional life and prevent burnout.

This 50-year-old police officer, who began his career in 1993 in the Paris region before moving to Bordeaux in 2005, plans to further develop this project. He wants to set up egg distributors in neighboring communities, allowing sales 24 hours a day on several sites. The idea came naturally to Franck after seeing distributors of oyster baskets during a trip to the Île d’Oléron. The town hall of Saint-Christoly-de-Blaye is already up for this project, in collaboration with the community of municipalities.

For lovers of quality eggs, Franck Gaury eggs are available at a price of two to three euros, depending on the size, in boxes of 12 eggs. This unique initiative combines the world of policing with chicken breeding, offering an interesting perspective for the future of this police-breeder.
