Oh-Chef: what if we offered ourselves a chef at home?

Have a birthday or event to celebrate and don’t want to cook or go to a restaurant? Overwhelmed by the start of the school year and no time to cook? Want to play guest at home? So many good reasons to book a home chef.

Ten years ago, the concept of Oh-Chef was born in the minds of three lovers of good food and parties, Xavier, Thierry and Frédéric. A group of professional chefs, known or not, starred or not, former candidates of “Top Chef” and quite a few others to offer the services of a chef at home to individuals, with organization of the meal from A to Z or even entertainment unique and cooking workshops.

To invite a chef into your kitchen, nothing could be simpler. All you have to do is connect to the Oh-Chef website, choose the chef and the seasonal menu he/she offers and check availability on the desired date. Is the chef of your choice already taken? No worries, Xavier, our “butler” of the day, will go out of his way to meet your expectations. “There is always a way to find a chef available to your date,” explains Xavier. “If you want to have a specific chef, for example the Michelin-starred Pierre Résimont or Alexandre Dionisio or a former ‘Top Chef’ candidate, you need to do it well in advance. But the choice is wide and you can always find another very talented chef among our members. In addition, we are always at the end of the phone as a ‘butler’ to help you and to look for the rare pearl for you in all regions of Wallonia and in Brussels.

The advantages of inviting a chef into your kitchen are numerous: avoiding the chore of shopping and washing dishes, saving preparation time, and even tidying up the kitchen! No dishes in sight after the last guest has left!

But why do some of these cooks prefer to be a home chef rather than have their own restaurant? For many professional cooks, being a home chef has more and more advantages. This allows them to avoid the heavy expenses of a restaurant. No more unmanageable energy bills, rental or reimbursement costs for an establishment or even salary surcharges and energy-intensive hours in the Horeca sector. In addition, they can work when it suits them, have their evenings and weekends which they decide to devote to their private life, to their family.
