Sweet Basil’s Café and The Wine Bar are dedicated to the principles of farm to table. Our menu is inspired by traditional dishes but we add our own twist to all. Our focus is on quality of ingredients and a cuisine that is pure, simple and playful. We have also tried to offer as many vegetarian dishes as possible. Enjoy!

The Cajun Invasion

After over 25 years of Cajun cooking, thirteen of them here on the coast I’ve been hearing more and more of my long time guests asking for my old style of cooking……Cajun/Creole. Well here it is, these traditional Cajun/Creole choices will in some cases bring the Northwest and Louisiana flavors together and others are strictly Southern.

One of the key changes in these recipes and the ones on our regular menu is that I use Canola Oil and Vegetable stock in place of butter and chicken stock. So the Vegetarian can enjoy Tofu Creole with rice, Portobello Etouffee, and Gumbo.

Crawfish Étouffée$23.50

Chef John’s favorite Cajun dish. Slow cooked rich brown sauce with onions, peppers and celery smothering sweet Louisiana crawfish tail meat. Served over rice.

A large Oregon grown Portobello with a slice of organic tomato is topped with Dungeness Crab, a touch of mayonnaise, parmesan cheese, and finished with provolone cheese. The dish is served with organic greens and our house dressing.
