Vannes: farmers want more transparency on the origin of products

“The brands play with the blue-white-red logo, but the raw material comes from abroad. » Faced with this observation, the Departmental Federation of Farmers’ Unions (FDSEA) and Young Farmers of Morbihan have laid stickers in a hypermarket Vannes on Saturday October 28 2023.

Poultry, milk, pigs…

“We want to inform the consumer and warn them. Then, he buys what he wants,” says Matie-Andrée Luherne, milk producer in Sulniac and president of FDSEA 56. On many products, the raw material does not come from France. The simple “transformation” in France makes it possible to stick strong slogans which fool the consumer. So, “French company”, “cooked in France”, “made in our workshop” and “processed in France” are not guarantees on the origin of the products.

For example, on a Père Dodu product, the words “prepared in France” and the use of the tricolor flag on the face of the product do not guarantee the origin of the chicken. The chicken comes from the European Union.

The FDSEA defends the “eat French” logo (see above) for assurance of French origin.
