How to prepare pumpkin fries?
It’s hard to make it simpler. Only three ingredients are needed: a pumpkin, frying oil and salt. For oil, there are several schools. Belgians swear by unrefined beef fat, white beef. In the South-West, some people prefer duck fat. For a lighter version, it is possible to choose a vegetable oil that is suitable for high temperatures: sunflower oil, peanut oil, grape seed oil, etc. If you want to further enhance the flavor of the fries, you can also flavor them with cumin, paprika or even nutmeg.

How to cook pumpkin fries?
To cook fries, there’s nothing like a deep fryer. But if you are not equipped, you can fall back on a frying pan and a cooking thermometer. Another option: the oven, which allows you to make less fatty fries. To do this, place the pumpkin sticks in a salad bowl. Pour in oil and salt, then mix well. Then place the fries on a baking tray covered with baking paper and bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 220°C.

Here is the recipe for pumpkin fries:
For 4 people :
- 1 kilo of pumpkin
- Oil for frying
- Salt
- Optional: pepper, cumin, paprika, to taste
Peel the pumpkin. Remove the seeds. Cut it into large pieces, then make sticks.
Heat the oil in the fryer. As soon as the oil temperature reaches 180°C, immerse the fries in the oil bath.
Cook the fries for a few minutes until they are golden brown.
Drain them on absorbent paper. Season with salt and possibly some spices.
Enjoy immediately.
